Cara & Co Sydney Store Opening

As Sportswear News covered: CARA&CO OPENS IN AUSTRALIA Russian concept store Cara&Co has expanded to Australia and opened its first store in Westfield Shopping Town, the heart of Sydney’s shopping mecca. Following the principle of researching and buying the most cutting edge selections, everything that can be found in Cara&Co is exclusive for Australia. Amongst the fashion brands offered, there are for example Alessandra Marchi, Antonio Marras, Casey Vidalenc, General Idea, Henrik Vibskov, Hussein Chalayan, Junko Shimada, accessories by Christophe Coppens, Con-fusione, Corsia, Costume Jewelry, Pauric Sweeny, together with fragrance, exclusive gadgets and shoes by nat-2 (anm:d.R.). Moreover, the store also houses a gourmet restaurant. Cara&Co Cara&Co The interior was created deliberately in contrast to a usual image of a fashion boutique, mixing such different styles as industrial, art-deco, constructivism and renaissance. The first eye-catcher is a zigzag window demonstrating the rotating scene with mannequins and art and fashion installations. The opening was celebrated with a catwalk show of collections by Tim Van Steenbergen, Jean Paul Knott, Kaal E.Suktae, Akira, Zambesi. The latter two designers created their capsule collections especially for Cara&Co. In 2007, Cara&Co opened the first ever concept store in Russia under the motto “No Logos Fashion Only”, and only one year after the opening it was listed among “The 10 Best Boutiques in the World” by The Observer (UK). Two years later, The Wall Street Journal online included Cara&Co Moscow in their list of the best boutiques worldwide.

Miss Van TWINKLES Show

After three years of absence from the French artistic scene, Miss Van has finally come back to her home country with a new series of works. Following her exhibitions in Los Angeles, Shanghai, and New York, Miss Van is taking a short break from her travels to show off her works in Paris.
Miss Van, true feminine figurehead of street art, started her artistic career in the streets of Toulouse. Since those early days, her style has greatly evolved, her latest series being an ode to classical painting. She has gone from painting the curvy, enticing pin-ups in the streets of Toulouse, to painting the melancholic and subtle works of this new exhibition. Her various travels and encounters have enriched her already complex world.

Thanks to her past year exhibitions in Barcelona, Los Angeles, San Diego, Mexico, London or Copenhagen, she has found many new sources of inspiration. Not only has she let herself be influenced by the contemporary artists with whom she has shared many privileged moments, but she has also borrowed the techniques and subtle lighting effects of past master artists, focusing her work more on the quality of her painting and less on self-asserting herself as is the tradition in street art.  With this new series she has undergone a beautiful evolution towards a more mature and refined style of painting, but without ever losing touch with her street art origins.

Miss Van will once again exhibit a melancholic collection of paintings. As always women are the center of attention. By adding a generous dose of coquetry and mischief to the ingredients of her work, she manages to bring out all the glamour, sensuality and sparkle of the female characters she has created. This exhibit celebrates the femininity or should we say felinity of women in an almost erotic way. Her previous series were a mix of bright, warm colors, whereas here, she has chosen to play with black and white contrasts, with sophisticated white faces balanced delicately on dark almost shadowy bodies. The ensemble is therefore far darker, allowing Miss Van’s dolls to trouble us evermore.

Sneakers, Candy & Chocolate

Seems like a new hype is to push chocolate and candy bars through sneaker culture and/or the other way around.

Nat-2 & Ritter Sport teamed up for a campaign, lotteries and creative get-together in 2008.

The colab was published in various international magazines and medias. (Source: nat-2.eu)

followed by Saucony’s Candy Bars (found in magazine “Schuhmarkt“)

and the Le Coq Sportif and M&M colab (found in magazine “Shoes-Up”).

There will be a Candy Pack by New Balance, which are the two sneakers on the top above. One is inspired by M&M’s and the other one is inspired by the silver foil that wraps chocolate bars. (Source: hypebeast.com)

This UNDRCRWN x Madame Chocolat collaboration features an UNDRCRWN designed keepsake lacquered heart box that contains custome hand made chocolates by Madame Chocolat. One side of the box features caramel heart shaped chocolates wrapped in an assortment of colors while the other features various chocolate basketballs dusted in Gold and Silver. Switzerland is famous, among other things, its chocolate. So the folks at Swiss-based +41 dreamed up a way to combine their 2 loves: chocolate and Nike sneakers. Just released are 4 new additions to +41’s chocolate collection: Air Force 1 (white chocolate), Dunk Hi, Air Trainer, and Blazer Mid (all in dark chocolate). Check out the details on each piece, down to the perforated leather, makes it too hard to eat them…almost. Comes in 1 pack = 3 boxes, with a pair in each box. To commemorate AF 1 25th anniversary, it will come in a gray shoe box, for a limited time. (Source: freshnessmag.com)

Foiled Chocolate Sneakers from Madelaine, solid molded milk chocolate bite-sized shoes wrapped in red, white, yellow, green and blue foils and all laced up to look like the cutest sneakers. World famous german candy maker Haribo released the Jolly Joggers candy sneakers (Source: winkkids.com)

The Red candy box that features both branding by CLOT and Nike will come with a top tray that has three sets of shoe laces, Black, Yellow, and Red which have writing on them that wishes everyone a prosperous 2009. When the tray of shoelaces is removed you will find the CLOT x Nike Air Force 1 Supreme’s. This is arguably one of the best 1World Air Force 1’s to date and we’re sure the release of this in Hong Kong and Shanghai will bring long lines. Look for this shoe to be released at the 21 Mercer door sometime shortly after the release in Asia, rumor is that the release at 21 Mercer will NOT contain the special Candy Box though. The Puma Easter Clydes come in three monochromatic, candy-colored flavors inspired by Easter eggs: Lavendar, Paradise Green and Aurora Yellow, each with slightly contrasting pastel finishes. The Easter Clydes have a rich nubuk upper with a subtle patent leather hit on the heel, and feature artwork by renowned tattoo artist Cubanbee. (Source: fixins.com)
Look at this RBK Sneaker designed by Rolland Berry! It’s coming out spring 2009 and will be available at a handfull selected stores (hopefully Vagant also :) )! It’s from a series called “Candy Land Dreams” which stands for very colourful and freaky designs!  (Souce: thisnext.com)
Dailycandies has designed this sneaker (for school I guess) and after a week of work this is what the conclusion is. It looks rather nice and I actually wish it was real. In fact, I thought it was until I saw what it said on the Flickr site. (Souce: sneakersandshoes.com)

Well, we wait for the next big sweet thing to come up!
